Kbal Spean
Stream of a Thousand Lingas

It was established by King Suryavarman I in 1054. This holy place must have been favored during the great Angkorian epoch when its waters, after having washed gods and lingas, continue on to the wondrous royal city with its growing monumental temples.

Phnom Kulen Resort is located in Svay Leu district, 50km northeast of Siem Reap Province. Kulen Mountain is a historical, cultural, and natural resort which was established during the Angkorian period by King Jayavarman II in the 9th century. It was named then as Mahendraparvata, a dedication to the Hindu God, Siva. During the reign of King Ang Chan I (16th century), the city Mahendraparvata became a worshipping place for Theravada Buddhism. Recently, the resort not only became a place of worship, but also a cultural, historical, and natural tourism resort. It is well known as a sacred place of the Khmer people. The main attraction of this resort is the River of One Thousand Lingas or Kulen Waterfall.
