Phnom Tamao Zoo

Phnom Tamao Zoo was established in 1995 by the Cambodian government and through wildlife aid organization donations. It was inaugurated by Somdech Hun Sen, the prime minister of Cambodia. Most of the animals arriving at the zoo are rescued from illegal wildlife trade. Most of them have injuries from snare traps. Others may be too young to survive on their own and require more attention.
The zoo is situated on 25,000 hectares. It is home to over 700 animals from over 80 species of rescued Cambodian wildlife.
